Palworld 0.5.0 Update: Crossplay, Blueprint Upgrades, Photo Mode Added

Apr 03,25

Palworld's latest update, v0.5.0, introduces a major feature that players have been eagerly anticipating: crossplay across all platforms. This update marks a significant step forward, allowing gamers on different systems to play together seamlessly.

One of the standout additions is the Global Palbox, which revolutionizes Pal management by enabling players to store their Pal data and transfer Pals between different worlds. Additionally, the new Dimensional Pal Storage system offers a massive 10 times the capacity of the standard Palbox. This storage can be accessed by guild members and also used as personal storage with customizable privacy settings, offering flexibility and convenience for players.

The update also brings a cosmetic armor system, allowing players to change their character's appearance without impacting their armor stats. This transmog feature adds a new layer of personalization to the game. Furthermore, a photo mode has been introduced, accessible via the Pal Command Wheel, enabling players to capture stunning in-game screenshots.

For those interested in crafting, the Drafting Table feature allows players to combine low-rarity blueprints into higher-rarity ones, enhancing the building and customization aspects of the game. Dedicated servers for Mac users have also been added, ensuring a smoother experience for players on that platform.

Developer Pocketpair has confirmed they are working on dedicated servers for the PlayStation 5 version, with a release planned for the future. This update comes on the heels of Palworld's remarkable success, having attracted an incredible 32 million players since its early access launch in January 2024. The studio has outlined an extensive content roadmap for 2025, which includes an "ending scenario" and more new content to keep the community engaged.

Palworld initially launched on Steam for $30 and was available on Xbox and PC via Game Pass, shattering sales and concurrent player records. The overwhelming success led Pocketpair to form Palworld Entertainment in partnership with Sony, aimed at expanding the game's IP and bringing it to the PS5.

However, the game's rise has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, alleging infringement of multiple patent rights and seeking an injunction and compensation. In response, Pocketpair has adjusted gameplay mechanics, such as how players summon Pals, and is prepared to defend its position in court.
