John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, hinted at "a few little surprises" included in the March update.

This news is particularly exciting for the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access launch in January 2024. Pocketpair has unveiled an extensive content roadmap for 2025, including the cross-play functionality, a concluding scenario, and additional content for this immensely popular creature-catching survival game.

Palworld's launch was a phenomenal success, debuting on Steam at $30 and simultaneously on Xbox and PC Game Pass a year ago. The game shattered sales and concurrent player records, leading Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe to comment that the developer was overwhelmed by the game's initial financial success. Capitalizing on this momentum, Pocketpair swiftly partnered with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture dedicated to expanding the IP and bringing the game to PS5.

However, the company faces a legal challenge from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who allege Palworld infringes upon multiple patent rights and are seeking an injunction and damages. Pocketpair has responded by identifying the patents in question and making adjustments to the Pal summoning mechanic within the game. The studio remains resolute in its defense, stating, “We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.”
