Path of Exile 2's Endgame: Mastering the Rituals Event

Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revived mechanic from previous PoE leagues, detailing how to initiate events, understand mechanics, utilize the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, conquer the Pinnacle boss, and maximize rewards from the unique Tribute and Favour system.

Identifying and Initiating Rituals

The Atlas map displays endgame events with specific icons. Ritual Altars are marked by a red pentagram with a demonic face. Guarantee Ritual encounters by using a Ritual Precursor Tablet in a completed Lost Tower.

Once in a map with a Ritual, several Altars appear. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemy types and mechanics. Modifiers might include massive rat swarms or life-draining pools of blood.

Interact with an Altar after reviewing its modifiers to summon a wave of enemies. Remain within the designated circle; venturing into the shadows ends the event without reward. Complete all Rituals on the map to mark it as finished.

Confronting the King in the Mists

The reward screen may offer "An Audience With The King," a unique currency granting access to The Crux Of Nothingness and the Pinnacle boss fight against the King in the Mists. Use this currency in your Realmgate to initiate the fight. The King in the Mists' mechanics mirror his campaign counterpart; Act 1 Cruel difficulty in Freythorn offers practice opportunities. Victory yields 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at event-exclusive Uniques, powerful Currencies, and Omen items.

Navigating the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree (accessible via the Atlas map's top-left button, then bottom right) enhances Ritual events. It offers modifiers to reduce Tribute requirements, boost rewards, and increase unique Currency drop chances.

The tree features five prongs, eight Notable nodes, and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Defeating the King in the Mists provides 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, necessitating increased difficulty with each new Notable node.

Prioritize "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" for optimal reward increases. Subsequently, focus on "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches" for enhanced Omen and "Audience With The King" acquisition.

Maximizing Ritual Rewards

Completing Rituals grants Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for randomized Favours. More Altars completed equate to more Tribute and unlocked Favours, ranging from basic Magic items and Currencies to Rare gear and high-tier Currencies. "An Audience With The King" is exclusively available through Favours.

Favours initially offer low-cost, basic rewards, evolving to include Rare items and high-tier Currencies as you progress. Omens, exceptionally powerful items enhancing other Currency effects, may also appear. Omens are consumed upon activation.

Ritual events also yield regular high-tier Currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.) from defeated enemies. The King in the Mists offers a chance at event-exclusive Uniques.
