Sony has filed two intriguing patents designed to enhance the gaming experience. These innovations focus on AI-driven lag reduction and a more realistic gunplay experience.

AI-Powered Lag Reduction

A newly patented system, "Timed Input/Action Release," utilizes a camera to monitor the player and controller. This footage is analyzed by an AI ("machine learning-based model") to predict the player's upcoming button presses. Alternatively, the system could interpret incomplete controller actions to infer player intent. The goal is to proactively process inputs, thereby minimizing lag in online gaming.

DualSense Gun Trigger Attachment

Another notable patent describes a trigger attachment for the DualSense controller, aiming to increase the realism of in-game gunfights. The attachment allows players to hold the controller sideways, mimicking a gun's grip. The space between the R1 and R2 buttons serves as the sight, with the trigger initiating the firing action. The patent suggests compatibility with other devices, including the PSVR2 headset.
