Plug In Digital Launches Abalone Game

Dec 06,25

Plug In Digital has launched a new Android game—a digital adaptation of the beloved board game Abalone. Known for its hexagonal board filled with black and white marbles, this digital release introduces more vibrant colors beyond the classic monochrome look.

If you're unfamiliar with Abalone, here’s a quick overview. Created by Michel Lalet and Laurent Lévi in 1987, the board game officially debuted in 1990. It’s a two-player abstract strategy title that gained significant popularity throughout the 1990s.

Each player controls 14 marbles—either black or white—and takes turns maneuvering them across a 61-space hexagonal board. The goal is to strategically push six of your opponent’s marbles off the board’s edge.

What Does the Digital Abalone Bring to the Table?

The mobile version stays true to the core gameplay while offering plenty of customization. You can personalize marble designs, board styles, and frames, and even tweak the game rules to match your preferences.

The interface is clean and user-friendly. Fans of the original board game will appreciate the faithful adaptation, while newcomers will find it easy to pick up and play.

Various game modes are available, including single-player matches against AI and multiplayer options. If you're ready to outsmart rivals, defend your marbles, and push others off the board, head over to the Google Play Store to download Abalone.
