Elden Ring Nightreign: No Poisonous Swamps, Two-Player Mode Possible

From Software's upcoming cooperative title, Elden Ring Nightreign, will notably omit the series' signature poisonous swamps, a detail revealed by product manager Yasuhiro Kitao. While a swamp-like area was featured in the trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. This omission stems from the absence of Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's head and a known enthusiast of swamp environments, from the Nightreign development team. Miyazaki's influence is evident in the swamp locales of both Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series.

Interestingly, the possibility of a two-player mode is under consideration. Initially, only one-player and three-player modes were announced, with content balancing cited as the reason for excluding a two-player option. From Software is currently evaluating the feasibility of adding this mode, but a final decision remains pending.

Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, for PC and current and next-generation consoles.
