Pokemon GO Fashion Week: Remote Raid Passes Arrive in Shadow Raids

Pokemon GO trainers can now utilize remote raid passes in Shadow Raids for the first time, a highly anticipated feature finally implemented during the Fashion Week: Taken Over event. This limited-time opportunity runs from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time.

This event allows participation in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids, both in-person and remotely. A key benefit: Shadow Raids offer increased chances of capturing Pokémon with superior Individual Values (IVs).

The temporary inclusion of remote raid passes extends to the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th (2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. local time), boosting the odds of catching a Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh and enabling the teaching of the Sacred Fire charged attack. Furthermore, players can utilize Charged TMs to remove the Frustration move from Shadow Pokémon.

While this functionality is event-exclusive, its introduction fulfills a long-standing player request since Shadow Raids debuted in 2023. The future implementation of permanent remote raid pass support in Shadow Raids remains uncertain, though many players hope this trial period signals a positive change, particularly given past criticism regarding the in-person requirements for challenging higher-level raid bosses.
