Pokémon TCG Pocket Merch Launches in Japan

  • Pokémon TCG Pocket is introducing an exclusive merchandise collection
  • The catch? For now, it's only available in Japan
  • The merchandise debuted over the weekend and can be purchased through the Japanese Pokémon Center website

The reception to Pokémon TCG Pocket as a trading card adaptation has been somewhat divided. While its trading system was widely seen as a misstep, the digital version of the popular card game has generally been well-received. However, if you were looking forward to showing your enthusiasm with themed merchandise, you might be let down.

That's because official Pokémon TCG Pocket merchandise is now on sale—but only in Japan through the official Pokémon Center store. Checking the international version of the site reveals no current listings, though there's a chance these products could eventually launch worldwide.

So, if you're already feeling a bit bummed, prepare to feel even more envious as we showcase the items that Japanese fans can currently enjoy.

The lineup features a variety of interesting desk accessories, including paper theater pieces (essentially mini 3D dioramas inspired by card art), smartphone shoulder straps, keychains, and a sacoche bag with an interior lining printed with Pikachu EX immersive card artwork.

It's not unusual for Japan to receive the bulk of exclusive fan merchandise. Limited-time pop-up shops, themed cafes, and other special events often remain inaccessible to international fans of anime, manga, and gaming.

Still, given the global popularity of Pokémon TCG Pocket, there's hope that these items may eventually be released internationally. Perhaps you're already thinking of fresh gift ideas for the Pokémon enthusiast in your life.
