Feb 22,25

Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes are leaving the PlayStation Store on January 31, 2025. However, Sony has confirmed their eventual return, offering a glimmer of hope to nostalgic PS5 users who enjoyed the classic boot-up sounds and visuals.

In a recent announcement, Sony expressed gratitude for the overwhelmingly positive reception to the themes, stating they're working to bring them back in the coming months.

Despite this good news, Sony dashed hopes for future theme releases. They clarified that there are currently no plans to create additional themes beyond the classic PlayStation console sets. This news has understandably disappointed many fans who've long desired more customization options on the PS5, a feature present in previous generations.

The temporary themes, released to commemorate PlayStation's 30th anniversary on December 3, 2024, offered a stylish throwback. The PS1 theme featured the original console's image, the PS2 its menu design, the PS3 its wave background, and the PS4 its signature wave patterns. Each theme also incorporated the corresponding console's iconic sound effects.
