Developed by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani, with the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi returning, Ratatan's Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, has successfully reached its console launch stretch goal, securing its release on various platforms.

Closed Beta Commences February 27, 2025

Ratatan's closed beta test is scheduled to begin on February 27, 2025, as announced on their Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared insights into the game's progress, revealing over 100,000 Steam wishlists and positive reception for the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta and focusing on a refined demo for the June Steam Next Fest.

Sakajiri outlined the closed beta's scope: Initially, players will access Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 added during the month-long test period. He also noted that "The distribution of codes, start date, and time will be announced via Discord and X as soon as they are confirmed."

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A precise release date remains unannounced.
