Genshin Impact Leak Suggests Wriothesley Rerun in Version 5.4

A recent leak hints at a potential Wriothesley rerun in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, marking a return after over a year's absence since his debut in Version 4.1. This news comes amidst ongoing concerns regarding the game's banner scheduling, a challenge exacerbated by the ever-growing roster of over 90 playable characters and the limited number of rerun slots.

The current system struggles to provide equitable rerun opportunities. Even assuming a single 5-star character release per patch, the demand significantly outweighs the available banner slots, making consistent yearly reruns for all characters impossible. While the Chronicled Banner aimed to address this, its effectiveness remains debated, as evidenced by Shenhe's extended wait time before her rerun in Version 5.3. Until the introduction of triple banners, extended wait times between character reruns seem inevitable.

Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst, exemplifies this issue. His unique Cryo hypercarry capabilities and Burnmelt team synergy make him a sought-after character, yet his absence since November 8, 2023, has frustrated many players. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, suggests his return in Version 5.4's Event Banners. However, it's crucial to approach this information cautiously, given Flying Flame's mixed track record with previous leaks.

The recent Spiral Abyss buff, however, lends some credence to the rumor, as it directly benefits Wriothesley's playstyle. Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If the leak proves accurate, and Mizuki and Wriothesley share an Event Banner, the remaining spot would likely feature either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive a sequential rerun. Version 5.4's projected launch date is February 12, 2025.
