Rumors are swirling that the popular MMORPG, FFXIV, might be making its way to mobile devices. A gaming industry source, Kurakasis, alleges that Tencent Games and Square Enix are collaborating on a mobile port.
A History of Mobile Final Fantasy:
This isn't Square Enix's first foray into mobile Final Fantasy games. Previous attempts, however, have yielded mixed results. While Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis received a lukewarm reception, Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia ultimately shut down. Therefore, adapting the complex FFXIV experience for mobile is a significant challenge.

It's crucial to remember that this information is unconfirmed. Square Enix hasn't officially commented. However, past collaborations between Square Enix and Tencent lend some credence to the rumor. Discussions regarding joint projects were reported in 2018 and 2021, involving then-president Yosuke Matsuda.
Kurakasis' leak provides no timeframe, leaving the project's status uncertain. A formal announcement remains pending.
