"The Last of Us Season 2 to Include Brutal Scenes Cut from Game"
Exciting news for fans of *The Last of Us*: Season 2 on HBO is set to revive content that was originally cut from *The Last of Us Part 2* video game. Neil Druckmann, the showrunner and Naughty Dog studio head, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming season will include some of the "pretty brutal" content from the game's Lost Levels. These levels, which were partially restored in the PlayStation 5 remaster, include three early versions of scrapped content: Jackson Party, The Hunt, and Seattle Sewers. While Jackson Party and The Hunt offer a more relaxed pace—featuring Ellie at a party and tracking a bleeding boar, respectively—the Seattle Sewers level plunges back into the intense horror that fans cherish, with Ellie being stalked by monsters in the dark tunnels of Seattle.

The inclusion of this cut content is poised to keep fans on the edge of their seats. Druckmann expressed his excitement, stating, "[It's] pretty brutal, but I'm very excited for people to see it." He also hinted at the introduction of a "pretty prominent" character previously only mentioned in the game, drawing parallels to the treatment of Frank in Season 1.
Season 2 will introduce a slew of new characters to the HBO adaptation. Kaitlyn Dever will join as Abby, with Danny Ramirez as Manny, Tati Gabrielle as Mel, and several others. The addition of Catherine O'Hara in a mysterious role adds an intriguing layer to the upcoming season. As the premiere of Episode 1 in April approaches, fans eagerly await the unraveling of these mysteries.
Unlike Season 1, which covered the entire first game, HBO plans to spread *The Last of Us Part 2* across multiple seasons. Craig Mazin, another showrunner, noted that Part 2's expansive narrative necessitates this approach. Although Season 3 hasn't been confirmed yet, Season 2 is designed with a "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes, setting the stage for a potentially thrilling continuation.
