May 25,25

Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has announced a record-breaking financial year, attributing much of its success to the game which generated $43 million in royalties. The company's 2024 financial report, as reported by Game World Observer, shows a total revenue of $151.4 million, marking a significant 30.4% increase from the previous year. This impressive figure includes the substantial contribution from Stellar Blade.

The momentum for Stellar Blade shows no signs of waning, with Shift Up expressing confidence that the upcoming PC version will surpass the sales of the original PlayStation 5 release, particularly in the Asian gaming market. This anticipation is fueled by the game's popularity, which saw it sell over a million copies shortly after its launch. Stellar Blade places players in the role of Eve, engaging in fast-paced action RPG combat to reclaim Earth from unknown invaders. While the game earned a commendable 7/10 from IGN, it was noted for its engaging action mechanics, though it faced criticism for its characters and story.

Looking ahead, Shift Up is set to unveil its new project, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. This announcement came shortly after Stellar Blade's release on PS5, and although it isn't the sequel fans might be hoping for, the developer has hinted at the possibility of returning to the Stellar Blade franchise in the future. The introduction of Project Witches demonstrates Shift Up's commitment to expanding its portfolio and continuing its streak of successful game development.
