Silksong Developer Reaffirms Release for the Original Switch

Following Silksong’s brief appearance at the Nintendo Direct for the upcoming Switch 2 on April 2, fans speculated that the game might skip the current-generation console and head straight to the next-gen. Originally announced in 2019 for PC and the original Switch, Silksong later expanded to include PlayStation and Xbox console releases.

On April 8, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler, Matthew Griffin, took to Twitter (X) to address fans' concerns about the game’s platform availability. Griffin confirmed that Silksong will indeed be released on both the original Switch and the Switch 2.

While there are no official details on how these versions will differ, players can anticipate that the game will benefit from higher resolution and enhanced features on the Switch 2.

New Silksong Images Revealed

Following the Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2, new images of Silksong were shared on Nintendo Japan’s official website. Although the locations depicted in these images were previously seen, fans have noted some graphical enhancements since their initial reveal in 2019.

Despite the developers maintaining a tight-lipped approach on most details about the game, Silksong’s appearance during the Switch 2 Direct and the release of new images hint that an announcement regarding the release date might be imminent. Recent changes to Silksong’s Steam metadata have further fueled fans' hopes for a release this year.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, the original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
