The Sims franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a bang, and while Electronic Arts has unveiled their celebratory roadmap, the surprises may not be over yet. A recent teaser from The Sims, brimming with references to the first two games in the series, has ignited a firestorm of speculation amongst fans. Could a return of these classic titles be on the horizon?

While there's no official confirmation, Kotaku sources suggest a potential digital PC release of The Sims 1 and 2, complete with all their original expansion packs, by the end of the week. This exciting possibility, however, leaves several questions unanswered. Will a console release follow? And if so, when can players expect it? Given the immense nostalgic appeal and potential for profit, it seems highly unlikely EA would forgo a console launch.

The original Sims 1 and 2 are now quite aged, and legitimate ways to play them today are incredibly limited. A re-release would undoubtedly be a welcome gift for countless devoted fans.
