Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently revealed more details about his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream with BreakthroughT1D. This innovative game, initially announced in 2018, is finally gaining momentum. Proxi focuses on the player's personal memories, offering a uniquely personalized gaming experience.

A Deep Dive into Interactive Memories

The livestream, part of BreakthroughT1D's Dev Diaries series, provided valuable insights into Proxi's core mechanics. Players input their real-life memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated 3D scenes. These scenes are customizable, allowing players to refine the visual representation of their memories using in-game assets.

Each memory, referred to as a "mem," enhances the game's AI and adds to the player's "mind world," a navigable 3D environment composed of hexagons. As the mind world expands, it populates with Proxies—digital representations of the player's friends and family—creating a dynamic and evolving personal landscape.

The timeline functionality allows players to arrange and interconnect memories, linking them to specific Proxies to accurately reflect the context and individuals involved in each recollection. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds, such as Minecraft and Roblox, expanding the possibilities for creative expression and interaction.

Wright emphasized Proxi's goal of creating "magical connections with memories and bringing them to life." He explained his desire for a more intimate player experience, leading to the game's memory-centric design. He humorously noted, "No game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players," highlighting the inherently personal nature of the game.
