The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean the iconic quartet of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the much-anticipated return for Season 27, and it appears our beloved Colorado crew is grappling with contemporary issues in their signature, barely-coping style.

The beloved animated series kicked off the excitement with a new trailer that masterfully tricked viewers into anticipating a dramatic new series. With intense editing and suspenseful music, the teaser initially exuded ominous vibes. The illusion was shattered hilariously when Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appeared on-screen. In a typical South Park twist, Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.

Following the comedic gag, the trailer swiftly returned to showcasing intense action sequences, hinting at several major and topical events for the season. Expect to see everything from plane crashes and the toppling of the Statue of Liberty to a P. Diddy cameo and, of course, another war with Canada. Longtime fans or those familiar with the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut won't be surprised by the latter.

The teaser also confirmed that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has kept fans entertained with three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, a testament to its enduring popularity and critical acclaim since its debut on Comedy Central in 1997.
