"Split Fiction Surpasses 2 Million Sales in One Week"

Apr 04,25

Hazelight Games' latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, continues to enjoy a phenomenal launch, having sold an impressive 2 million copies within just one week of its release. The game, featuring a dual-protagonist narrative centered around Mio and Zoe, launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, cementing its place as another successful venture for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The game's sales momentum was evident from the start, with 1 million copies sold in the first 48 hours. This means an additional million copies were snapped up in the subsequent five days, showcasing the game's strong appeal and the studio's growing fanbase.

As a co-op game, Split Fiction likely has engaged far more players than the number of copies sold, thanks to its innovative Friend's Pass feature. This feature allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, significantly expanding its reach. With the buzz around Split Fiction continuing to grow on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous title, the 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an astounding 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay.
