Familiar yet Fresh

CEO Ian Proulx shared their ambitious vision, stating, "Our goal is to craft a game that endures for a decade or more." While the original game drew inspiration from classic arena shooters, the team recognized the need to evolve, as Proulx noted, "To create a lasting modern game, we had to forge tools that enhance the depth and satisfaction of the gameplay loop."

Hilary Goldstein, Head of Marketing at 1047 Games, added, "We've reimagined our portal mechanics to ensure that true Portal Gods can shine, while allowing all players to enjoy victory without constantly relying on portals."

Although details on Splitgate 2's gameplay are scarce, the developers confirmed it will be built using Unreal Engine 5, remain free-to-play, and introduce a "faction system." While retaining familiar elements, "Splitgate 2 aims to deliver a completely fresh experience compared to its predecessor."
