Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's mobile entry into the Star Wars universe, is closing its doors after less than a year. Launched in June 2024, the game blended game show aesthetics with fresh interpretations of classic Star Wars characters. However, the game will officially shut down on October 1st, 2024, with a final content update arriving on April 15th.

This closure comes as a surprise to many, as there were few outward signs of underperformance. While in-game currency refunds are available and Season Three is extended to include reruns of seasonal events, the reasons behind the game's shuttering remain unclear. Speculation points towards market saturation in the mobile hero shooter genre and a potential mismatch between the game's target audience and the broader Star Wars fanbase.
