DC Comics has announced Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series launching in May 2025, marking the return of Marvel Comics veteran writer Dan Slott to DC. Slott, renowned for his work on Marvel titles like The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, will be writing the series. While he contributed to various DC books earlier in his career, including Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures, he's been primarily associated with Marvel for the past two decades. The series pairs Slott with artist Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire) and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. Slott stated, “He’s the first and greatest superhero, and I’ve waited my whole life to tell stories about him. Not just because of his powers, but who he is. Rafael Albuquerque and I will take him—and you—to places you’ll want to escape to every month. Millions of surprising ideas for Superman, Lois, the supporting cast, classic rogues, and all-new friends and foes.”

Superman Unlimited introduces a perilous new reality for the Man of Steel. A Kryptonite asteroid shower blankets the planet with Green K, empowering enemies like Intergang with weapons exploiting Superman's weakness. This forces Superman to develop new technology and strategies. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia conglomerate after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.

DC group editor Paul Kaminski describes Superman Unlimited as building upon DC's Superman comics, similar to Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness's Superman/Batman in the early 2000s. He highlights the series' focus on large-scale adventures while introducing a massive new Kryptonite deposit, creating a world where even petty criminals wield Kryptonite-enhanced weapons. Kaminski contrasts this with the Justice League Unlimited series, emphasizing the abundance of super-villains empowered by Green K in Superman Unlimited.

Slott and Albuquerque's work begins with a 10-page prelude in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 (May 3, 2025), followed by Superman Unlimited #1 on May 21, preceding James Gunn's Superman film (July 11).
