Triss' Wedding in 'The Witcher 3' Revealed in Development Plans

Jan 10,25

In the Witcher 3 quest, "Ashen Marriage," Geralt assists Triss Merigold and her fiancé, Castello, in preparing for their hasty wedding in Novigrad. His tasks include ridding the canals of monsters, procuring alcohol, and selecting a wedding gift for Triss. The gift's significance impacts Triss's response; a memory rose, a callback to Witcher 2, evokes a strong emotional reaction, unlike more commonplace presents.

However, Dijkstra's revelation that Castello is secretly connected to witch hunters throws a wrench into the proceedings. Castello's involvement stems from blackmail – the hunters threaten to expose his illegitimate daughter from a previous marriage.

Geralt has the option of revealing this truth to Triss, either privately or with Castello present. Regardless of his approach, the wedding is called off. Triss is either disheartened by her fiancé's deception or grateful for his honesty, ultimately concluding the marriage was premature.

This unexpected turn could have been further developed to enrich Geralt and Triss's dynamic and provide more nuanced character arcs for supporting figures.
