Ubisoft has stealthily introduced Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E, a move reported by Eurogamer on December 20. This exciting top-down multiplayer arcade shooter requires players to engage with cryptocurrency to participate in the action.

According to the Eden Online website, this game "expands the universe of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix," which initially debuted as a series on Netflix. Both the game and the series will feature well-known Ubisoft IPs, such as Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed, enhancing the gaming experience with familiar elements.

The game is set in a classic online competitive multiplayer environment, yet it's exclusively accessible to 10,000 players. To join in, each player must secure a Citizen ID Card. This card meticulously records everything from seasonal rankings to unique in-game achievements and accolades. Furthermore, these cards will dynamically evolve based on players' performance within the game.

To acquire a card, players need a crypto wallet and must purchase an NFT Niji Warrior ID card from Ubisoft’s dedicated claim page for $25.63. ID owners have the flexibility to renounce their citizenship and sell their IDs to other players, potentially increasing in value based on their in-game performance.

According to Ubisoft's page on Magic Eden, an online marketplace for NFTs and other digital collectibles, the game’s full launch is scheduled for Q1 2025. However, early adopters who obtain IDs will enjoy early access to the game.

A Netflix Series Inspired By Far Cry 3’s DLC

The Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, is an animated spinoff inspired by Far Cry 3’s standalone expansion, Blood Dragon. Set in an alternate 1992, the series portrays a transformed United States, now known as Eden, a technocracy under the control of a single megacorporation.

The series follows the journey of Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier engineered by Eden Tech Military. After defecting, he teams up with his boyfriend Alex Taylor to pull off heists, only to be betrayed by Taylor. Captured and forced back into service by Eden, Laserhawk joins The Ghosts and is tasked with thwarting Taylor’s schemes.

Although Ubisoft has not released specific details about the game's narrative, it is set within the same universe, where players must assume the role of citizens under Eden's governance. Players can influence the game's story by boosting their citizen scores through mission completion, leaderboard updates, and active community participation.
