Veilguard Unlikely to Release DLC Any Time Soon as BioWare Focuses on Mass Effect 5

BioWare appears to be moving away from expanding Dragon Age: The Veilguard with any downloadable content (DLC) in the near future. This news comes directly from a recent report by Rolling Stone, where BioWare's creative director, John Epler, confirmed that there are no current plans for DLCs as Veilguard is considered "now complete." With the game's official launch, BioWare is shifting its focus to the next chapter in their acclaimed military sci-fi series, Mass Effect.

Creative Director Says “Never Say Never” to Dragon Age Remastered Collection Though

While the future of Veilguard DLC remains uncertain, Epler provided some insights into the possibility of a remastered collection for the Dragon Age series. Drawing parallels with the successful Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which updated Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 for modern consoles, Epler expressed a personal interest in seeing a similar treatment for the Dragon Age games.

However, he highlighted the challenges involved, noting that the first three Dragon Age titles were built on EA's proprietary game engines, making a remaster more complex than that of the Mass Effect series. Despite these obstacles, Epler remains optimistic, stating, "It’s something that’s not going to be as easy as Mass Effect, but we do love the original games. Never say never, I guess that’s what it comes down to."
