Phase 7 arrives just two months after Phase 6, which returned players to Silithus for the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline and the Ahn'qiraj raids. During Ahn'qiraj, a mysterious Shadowy Figure sparked speculation, possibly hinting at Xal'atath from World of Warcraft: The War Within. The Figure's role in Phase 7 remains unknown.

While Phase 7 marks the Season of Discovery's end, new challenges await. Starting Tuesday, January 28th, following server maintenance, players can explore the Karazhan Crypts, a 5-player dungeon beneath the iconic Karazhan tower (later a 10-player raid in The Burning Crusade). Simultaneously, the Scourge Invasion event unleashes undead hordes across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, offering new quests at Light's Hope Chapel and the chance to collect Necrotic Runes for unique consumables.

New runes will be available from Rune Brokers throughout Azeroth, and Naxxramas will feature a new "Empower" difficulty setting.

New runes become available from Rune Brokers in starting zones and capital cities with the launch of Phase 7. The Naxxramas raid opens February 6th, offering an "Empower" difficulty option alongside the standard mode, similar to Ahn'qiraj.
