Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves' 2.0 update introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord residing in Rinascita's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer awaits at the maze's heart in Oakheart Highcourt, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Climb the walls or use the Flight function to reach it.

Mastering the Lifer's Board Game

Inside, you'll find the Lifer beside a six-piece board game. Control the black pieces to connect three in a row before the Lifer (white pieces) does. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens walls and gates in that direction. You can exit and resume the game at any time. While not mandatory for the fight, the board game is crucial for removing the Lifer's buffs. Avoid winning before debuffing the Lifer, as it will immediately attack.

Neutralizing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer boasts seven buffs; four are removable using Stakes of Imbalance, while three are permanent. Examine the glowing yellow module behind the Lifer to see its buffs.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without being attacked.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, plus an additional 25% DMG increase every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG dealt (stacks up to 4 times; resets after 6 seconds without dealing DMG).
  • Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all element types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and a 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

Use the Sensor near the Lifer to locate four purple lines leading to Stakes of Imbalance in outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the corresponding gates. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (glowing white). One room requires defeating Tacet Discords, another involves breaking Friable Rocks, and the final one is simply on a table. Place each Stake in the module in front of its statue to remove a buff (purple lines turn yellow).

The Final Confrontation

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer (either win the board game or choose "Fight it out!"). The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker, posing little threat.

Victory rewards vary: First win: Premium Supply Chest; Second win: Premium Supply Chest + three Basic Supply Chests; Third win: Advanced Supply Chest + three Standard Supply Chests. You can re-enable buffs for a greater challenge, but there are no achievements tied to this.

Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's moves; it will eventually make a mistake.
