Feb 07,25

A new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition unveils deeper insights into its narrative and characters. The original game concluded with a cliffhanger, but this updated release promises added story content, potentially resolving the unresolved ending. Initially released in 2015 for the Wii U, Xenoblade Chronicles X now arrives on the Nintendo Switch.

The trailer, titled "The Year is 2054," features Elma, a key protagonist, recounting the events leading to humanity's arrival on the planet Mira. Caught in an intergalactic conflict between alien factions, Earth is destroyed, forcing a group of survivors to escape aboard the White Whale ark. Their perilous journey culminates in a crash landing on Mira, with the crucial Lifehold – containing most of the human population in cryosleep – lost in the process. The player's mission is to locate the Lifehold before its power depletes.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition expands upon the original with new story elements. This ambitious RPG, beyond its main BLADE mission (finding the Lifehold), tasks players with exploring Mira, deploying probes, and battling indigenous and alien lifeforms to secure humanity's survival.

The Wii U version heavily utilized the GamePad, serving as a dynamic map and interaction tool. The trailer showcases the seamless adaptation for the Switch, transferring GamePad functions to a dedicated menu. A mini-map now resides in the upper-right corner, consistent with other Xenoblade titles, and other UI elements have been integrated into the main screen. While the UI appears uncluttered, this adaptation might subtly alter the gameplay experience compared to the original. The Xenoblade Chronicles series, created by Monolith Soft's Tetsuya Takahashi, is now fully available on the Nintendo Switch with the release of XCX: Definitive Edition.
