This guide explains how to obtain the elusive Yellow Orb in the Dragon Quest 3 Remake. While the process is relatively simple, finding the starting point can be challenging. This guide will help you navigate this process.

The Yellow Orb is located in Merchantburg, a town initially appearing as "???" on the map. The town's name is determined by the merchant you hire and leave there.

Locating Merchantburg (???)

After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), Merchantburg is accessible. Its quest marker is in the northeast corner of the world map. You can sail west from the coast to reach the easternmost edge of the eastern continent.

Optimal Timing for Visiting Merchantburg

While orb acquisition order is flexible, visiting Merchantburg early (immediately after getting the ship) is recommended. The town requires significant growth time before yielding the Yellow Orb. Establishing it early allows you to collect other orbs concurrently.

Obtaining the Yellow Orb

Establishing Merchantburg:

1. Hire a new merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Minimize combat en route.
2. Arrive at Merchantburg (???) and enter the sole building.
3. Speak to the old man who wishes to establish a town, requiring a merchant. Offer your hired merchant.
4. Your merchant will leave your party and establish the town, revealing its official name.

Returning to Merchantburg and its Growth:

Merchantburg undergoes five growth stages, each prompting a return visit. The first four visits show incremental town growth, culminating in a large club's construction. On the fourth visit, your merchant's growing arrogance might become apparent to the townsfolk.

Acquiring the Yellow Orb:

On the fifth and final visit (at night), you'll find the merchant missing. The townspeople have revolted, imprisoning him in the house south of his former residence.

Speak to the imprisoned merchant. He'll reveal the Yellow Orb's location. Return to his former home. A quest marker will appear behind the sofa; interact with it to uncover the Yellow Orb.

The Yellow Orb is typically the penultimate orb acquired. The Red Orb is found at the Pirates' Den, the Green Orb in Theddon, and the Silver Orb in the Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine.
