Zelda Speedrunner Beats Final Boss in Under 10 Minutes, Sparks Applause at Nintendo Switch 2 Event

At the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan, a remarkable feat was accomplished by Japanese content creator Ikaboze, who speedran The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch 2 within a tight 10-minute window. As reported by VGC, Ikaboze took on the challenge of defeating the final boss, Ganon, under unusual conditions. Using an existing save file with unknown equipment and choosing to fight "completely naked and with all my equipment removed," Ikaboze managed to conquer Ganon in just seven minutes, earning spontaneous applause from the crowd.

The achievement was particularly notable as Ikaboze navigated the unfamiliar controller and couldn't hear the game's audio due to the noisy convention hall. Reflecting on the event, Ikaboze remarked, "I was surprised by how many people had gathered. Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me."

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, along with achievements and support for the new "Zelda Notes" service within the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version can upgrade to these enhancements for $10. Additionally, subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack can access the upgrade packs for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom at no additional cost.

For those interested in purchasing the new editions without upgrading, here are the U.S. prices:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99
