2025's First Deadlock Update: Surprisingly Small

Apr 28,25

Valve has returned from the New Year holidays, and game developers are starting to roll out new patches across various titles. After the announcement that Deadlock was moving away from its bi-weekly update cycle, many of us anticipated a patch with a comprehensive changelog. However, Valve opted for a lighter touch to kick off the year.

The latest patch focused solely on one hero: Yamato. The hero received a slight nerf, with a reduction in damage scaling and a lower attack speed bonus at the first level of Shadow Transformation. Additionally, abilities such as Frenzy, Berserker, and Restorative Shot were weakened, while Alchemical Fire underwent a minor rework.

Given the modest scope of this update, it's highly likely that we will have to wait for a more substantial patch. At this point, predicting when that will be is nearly impossible.

It's important to note that Deadlock has recently seen a significant drop in its player base. This could be attributed to many players being currently engrossed in Marvel Rivals. However, for a game still in deep beta, maintaining a steady online player count of 7,000–19,000 is not a bad result. As a reminder, Valve has yet to announce any potential release dates or details about the monetization model.
