Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 million for cancer research.

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation (PCF), surpassing the 2024 total by over $100,000. This annual winter speedrunning marathon featured a diverse lineup of games, including popular titles like Crazy Taxi and Super Metroid.

AGDQ, one of two major Games Done Quick (GDQ) events yearly (Summer Games Done Quick being the other), consistently supports PCF. This collaboration has generated over $26 million in donations over the years. The PCF focuses on early cancer detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs. The AGDQ 2025 event, held in Pittsburgh, commenced with a speedrun of Pikmin on the Nintendo Switch.

A standout moment was a creatively executed Crazy Taxi run. Due to copyright restrictions on the game's music, speedrunner Chuckles825 collaborated with a live band to perform cover versions of the game's soundtrack, raising over $24,000. The event concluded with a thrilling four-player randomized race of Super Metroid on the SNES.

GDQ's fundraising efforts extend beyond the main events. Smaller events like Frame Fatales and GDQ Express are regularly organized, and a spontaneous Disaster Relief Done Quick event in October 2024 raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene. The next major GDQ event, Summer Games Done Quick 2025, will take place in Minneapolis from July 6th onwards, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
