Ubisoft has revealed its post-launch content strategy for Assassin’s Creed Shadows's first year, including promised additions like New Game+, expanded difficulty options, story expansions, and more.

The developer outlined its 2025 plans through a comprehensive roadmap video published today. The five-minute presentation provides a clear timeline for May and June updates, detailing how the team plans to maintain player engagement through free content drops.

The content rollout begins in early May with "The Works of Luis Frois" - the first free narrative expansion. This update will include a Codex refresh, parkour enhancements, photo mode improvements, and various quality-of-life upgrades. These changes reflect Ubisoft's commitment to implementing community feedback into the game's ongoing development.

"Player feedback has guided our development process from the beginning, and that dialogue continues post-launch," stated community developer Daniel St. Germain in the announcement. "We'll be releasing regular title updates with meaningful additions and adjustments based on player input, alongside ongoing platform optimizations."

June will bring another free story expansion accompanied by new high-difficulty settings, gameplay customization options, an enhanced world alert system, and toggleable headgear visibility in cutscenes. Additional planned features include New Game+ support, more story content, special crossovers, and other surprises arriving throughout the year.

The most substantial addition will be the first premium DLC expansion, "Claws of Awaji," scheduled for late 2025. This story-driven content introduces the Bo staff weapon class and a new explorable region, offering approximately 10 hours of additional gameplay. While pricing hasn't been confirmed, pre-order customers will receive this expansion at no additional cost.

Launched March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Assassin’s Creed Shadows marks the franchise's long-awaited journey to feudal Japan. The title has already earned a spot among 2025's strongest game releases and became last month's top-selling title.
