Patch 8 represents Larian's final major update for Baldur's Gate 3, concluding an extraordinary chapter for the studio. Since its 2023 launch, the game has maintained both critical praise and consistent sales through 2024-2025.

Larian previously announced its departure from Dungeons & Dragons to focus on an unannounced new IP, maintaining complete secrecy during development. Meanwhile, D&D owner Hasbro has hinted at future plans for the Baldur's Gate franchise.
