"DOOM: The Dark Ages Unveils New Marauder Character"

May 30,25

Agadon the Hunter marks a bold evolution in enemy design, stepping in as the successor to the Marauder. Unlike a simple upgrade, Agadon is a wholly distinct adversary, drawing inspiration from multiple iconic bosses. His repertoire includes agile dodging, evasive maneuvers, and even the ability to deflect projectiles aimed at the Doom Slayer. This formidable foe employs dynamic combo attacks, compelling players to utilize a sawtooth shield—an homage to the mechanics of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a game that profoundly influenced the development team.

The confrontation with Agadon serves as the pinnacle of skill testing, acting as the ultimate measure of the abilities players have honed throughout their journey. The developers opted to retain the essence of a demanding boss encounter, acknowledging that players are prepared for heightened challenges. However, feedback highlighted that the previous issue lay in the execution rather than the difficulty itself—specifically, the lack of clear presentation and adequate preparation.

Notably, many of the mechanics essential for defeating the Marauder were absent earlier in the campaign, leading to frustration among some players. A more gradual introduction of these elements, combined with improved guidance, aims to mitigate such concerns moving forward.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is set to launch on May 15, 2025, available on current-generation consoles (PS5, Xbox Series) and PC via Steam.
