Genshin Impact is about to celebrate its fifth anniversary, and developer MiHoYo is marking the occasion with a major content drop in the Luna I: A Dance of Snowy Tides and Hoarfrost Groves update. This release introduces a new explorable area, three playable characters, and a host of anniversary rewards.

The highlight is undoubtedly Nod-Krai, Teyvat's seventh major region. You'll embark on a fresh narrative arc, confronting the Fatui Harbinger Marionette and her plots to harness lunar energy. Your journey will also introduce new allies, some of whom become permanent members of your roster.

These three new recruits include Lauma the Moonchanter, a 5-star Catalyst user; Flins, a 5-star polearm wielder; and Aino, a 4-star Claymore user. Each character brings potent skills to the table, including new Lunar Reactions.

In the name of the moon

Beyond combat, the new characters feature unique environmental interactions. For instance, having Lauma in your party can prompt local wildlife to offer assistance. However, the most anticipated feature may be Meeting Points, which provides a window into the daily routines and personal lives of your favorite characters when they're not adventuring.

This massive update doesn't overshadow the fifth-anniversary festivities. As part of the celebration, you can claim a free 5-star character from the Standard Wish, plus ascension materials to raise them to level 60. Login rewards include 10 Intertwined Fates, 1,600 Primogems, and two exclusive Nod-Krai-themed gadgets delivered via in-game mail, with more to come.

The celebrations continue with the return of the Genshin Impact Fan Art Special Programme. Titled "Parallels Meet," the event will stream on September 20th across platforms like YouTube and TikTok, showcasing fan-created content from around the globe.
