Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide

Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially since the release of the VR exclusive Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on a particularly challenging mission early in Artyom's journey: "Cursed," set within Moscow's Turgenevskaya station (also known as The Cursed Station). This mission often trips players up due to unclear objectives and a confusing layout. The mission begins after witnessing an anomaly decimate a nosalis horde. Khan takes a railcar to the next station, and "Cursed" starts upon exiting.

Locating the Bomb

After meeting the defenders near the barricaded escalators, you learn an explosives team went missing while attempting to collapse a tunnel to stop the nosalis onslaught. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed (you'll likely need to do this at least once).

The bomb is at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows directly ahead; they'll damage Artyom. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if outnumbered.

Destroying the Tunnel

To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger; Artyom automatically plants and lights the fuse. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb in the same tunnel area will achieve the same result. Note: even with this tunnel destroyed, nosalises will still infiltrate from other entry points.

Securing the Airlock

The mission isn't over yet! The defenders mentioned an airlock that needs collapsing. Find it by taking the stairs to the right of the main platform, into the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises there. Interact with the support columns to plant and detonate a pipe bomb, then quickly evacuate. With both tunnel entrances destroyed, follow Khan to a shrine room, where a brief conversation leads to the next mission: "Armory."
