MGS Delta: Snake Eater Keeps Mature Content in Remake

Oct 02,25

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater retains the suggestive and mature themes from Metal Gear Solid 3, including the Peep Demo Theater, as indicated by its recent age rating.

Though Konami hasn't officially addressed whether the contentious content remains, the ESRB has assigned the stealth-action remake an M (Mature 17+) rating for intense gunplay, pained screams, gory combat scenes, and "suggestive/sexual material."

Beyond cataloging realistic violence, the ESRB notes: "Cutscenes feature additional brutal moments: a bound captive tortured via beating and electrocution; a character fatally shot through the eye; a flaming combatant riddled with bullets.

"The game contains sexualized scenarios: a man forcibly touching a woman's chest; lingering camera focus on exposed cleavage; a brief scene of crotch grabbing; plus the Peep Demo Theater's first-person voyeuristic cutscenes featuring a semi-nude female character."

Originally an unlockable bonus in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and HD Edition, this theater mode let players manipulate camera angles during Eva's underwear-clad scene - accessible only after four playthroughs.

Konami's latest teaser confirms Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches August 28, with the return of the fan-favorite Snake vs. Monkey minigame.

IGN's preview critiques the remake's excessive fidelity: "While visually stunning as a nostalgia piece, Metal Gear Solid Delta's new first-person option can't mask its overreliance on verbatim recreation." The original Metal Gear Solid 3 earned our 9.6/10 masterpiece rating.
