The upcoming Monopoly movie from Lionsgate has secured the talents of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein as its writers. Known for their work on Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Daley and Goldstein bring a fresh perspective to this adaptation of Hasbro's iconic board game. Margot Robbie, through her production company LuckyChap, is set to produce the film, adding another high-profile name to the project.

In addition to their work on Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Daley and Goldstein have recently written and directed the original film Mayday. They have also contributed their writing skills to blockbuster hits such as The Flash and Spider-Man: Homecoming, showcasing their versatility and experience in the industry.

The journey to bring Monopoly to the big screen has been long and winding. Discussions about a Monopoly film date back to 2007, when Ridley Scott showed interest in directing. In 2011, Scott enlisted Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski to pen the script, though that project ultimately didn't materialize. Another attempt in 2015 saw Lionsgate and Hasbro teaming up with Andrew Niccol as the writer, followed by reports in 2019 that Kevin Hart and director Tim Story were set to be involved. However, none of these earlier efforts came to fruition.

The current push for the Monopoly movie gained momentum after Lionsgate's acquisition of eOne from Hasbro, sparking renewed efforts to bring this beloved game to life on screen. With Daley and Goldstein at the helm of the screenplay, fans are hopeful that this version will finally "pass Go" and deliver an engaging cinematic experience.
