"Oblivion Remastered Retains Iconic Line Flub"

May 22,25

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings new life to one of Bethesda's most cherished titles with enhanced visuals, updated gameplay mechanics, and more. Despite these upgrades, the team at Virtuos has preserved one of the original game's most iconic and beloved moments.

Long-time fans of the Elder Scrolls series are well acquainted with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion was first released for PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, Tandilwe's voice lines were a topic of conversation, particularly due to a memorable flub. Actress Linda Kenyon's attempt at a line, which many believed was mistakenly included, became a cherished part of the game's lore.

As players embarked on their journey through the revitalized world of Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to see how faithful the ground-up remaster was to the original. While the game boasts revamped environments, character models, and items, fans have been delighted to find that many of the original's quirks and imperfections have been preserved. Tandilwe’s iconic blooper, complete with its lack of subtitles, has returned to the delight of many.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon humorously defended herself, stating, "It wasn't my fault!" regarding the infamous blooper that found its way into the game and became an internet sensation.

While thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, debates rage on about whether the Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake than a remaster. However, many are simply pleased to see that the game's original charm and quirks have been largely preserved. Both Bethesda and Virtuos were committed to maintaining these elements, a decision that appears to be resonating well with both new and returning players.
