The Pokémon Company has confirmed it currently has no plans to integrate Pokémon TCG Pocket into its competitive esports circuit. This was revealed by Chris Brown, Director of eSports, in a recent interview. While the company continuously evaluates potential additions to its competitive lineup, Pokémon TCG Pocket isn't on the immediate horizon. This was humorously contrasted with the previously released (and fictional) Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament.

While no official reasons have been given, several fan theories exist. The game's relative youth (launched October 2024) and the ongoing balancing issues are likely contributing factors. The upcoming Pokémon Presents livestream on February 27, 2025, is anticipated to reveal new content. While not confirmed, many fans speculate the event might unveil a new set for Pokémon TCG Pocket, following the January 30, 2025 release of Space Time Smackdown.
