Ubisoft is setting sail to make Skull and Bones Year 2 the most exciting chapter yet for the pirate multiplayer game, promising a slew of major content additions such as new game modes, ships, a legendary Kraken, and the much-anticipated feature of land combat.

During a special Year 2 showcase premiered yesterday, Ubisoft unveiled its ambitious plans for the upcoming year. The presentation was brimming with exciting content, with Season 3: Guts and Glory standing out by introducing the long-awaited land combat.

PlayThis fall, in Season 3, players will finally be able to step off their ships and engage in thrilling swordfights and gun battles on land. This feature is part of the Rogue Warlord additions, where players will explore sandy beaches and damp caves to recruit skilled Officers. A teaser video offered a glimpse of what's to come, but fans will need to wait until later this year to experience the full scope of land combat.

While land combat is the highlight of Skull and Bones Year 2, the showcase revealed a treasure trove of content to keep players engaged throughout 2025. Season 1: Ascent into Chaos, which launches today, April 15, introduces an item ascension feature, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the team-based Death Tides PvP mode. Season 2: Oaths of War, set for summer 2025, brings Megaforts and the imposing Frigate large ships. Season 4: Eye of the Beast, coming this winter, will feature the fearsome Kraken, the Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship.

While Ubisoft hasn't disclosed specific sales figures, they did report "record player engagement" shortly after launch. Notably, the release of Skull and Bones also saw a 200% increase in players for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
