Tekken 8 Boss Attempts Waffle House Crossover, Fails

May 15,25

For quite some time, fans of the iconic fighting game series, Tekken, have been vocal about their desire to see a Waffle House stage introduced in Tekken 8. While this request might seem whimsical, it has garnered significant attention, especially with Tekken's game director, Katsuhiro Harada, showing a keen interest in exploring the possibility.

On X/Twitter, Harada responded directly to fans who continue to express their enthusiasm for a Waffle House stage. He admitted to understanding the fans' request thoroughly and revealed that he had been contemplating the idea for some time. In fact, Harada disclosed that he has been proactive in trying to make this happen, having attempted to reach out to Waffle House through various channels over the past year.

Play"Over the past year or more, I've actually tried to make contact through several different channels," Harada shared on X/Twitter. "However, and this is purely my own speculation, I suspect that the lack of response may be due to the fact that the project I'm known for revolves around 'fighting-themed video games.'"

To be honest, within the bounds of what I can say, I fully understand your (you guys) request—that's precisely why I had considered taking on this challenge. In fact, I had already been thinking about it quite a while ago.

Despite his efforts, Harada noted that receiving "no response" is a rare occurrence. He suggested that if a different name or format could be used while preserving the core message, he would be open to revisiting the idea. This could potentially lead to a parody or an in-universe equivalent of Waffle House, with Harada humorously proposing "Hustle House" as an alternative.

While it appears unlikely that characters like Kazuya and Jin will soon be battling it out under the iconic yellow glow of a Waffle House sign, fans remain hopeful for some creative workaround.

In other Tekken 8 news, the game is currently rolling out Patch 2.01, following the announcement of Fahkumram's addition to the roster. Earlier in April, Harada addressed fan concerns over Tekken 8's Season 2, assuring players that the tuning team is diligently working on incorporating feedback and making improvements.
