Ubisoft Hypes Assassin's Creed Shadows, But Falls Short

May 18,25

It's been quite some time since our last discussion about Ubisoft, but the anticipation is building as next Thursday marks the release of their latest title, Assassin's Creed Shadows. This game's performance could very well shape the future trajectory of the entire corporation, making it a pivotal moment for Ubisoft.

Today, Ubisoft's official channel unveiled a new video centered around Assassin's Creed Shadows. At first glance, one might mistake it for the launch trailer, yet it's intriguingly titled as a TV commercial, sparking some curiosity.

The video itself is far from disappointing; it's smooth, cinematic, and visually captivating. However, the choice to promote the game through traditional media, and then upload this TV ad to Ubisoft's YouTube channel, raises eyebrows. While there's nothing inherently wrong with this approach, it does beg the question: why opt for a TV ad on a digital platform? This might seem like nitpicking, but such a strategy doesn't necessarily instill confidence in the upcoming release.

Setting speculation aside, the video effectively highlights the distinct gameplay and combat styles of the two main protagonists. The depiction of Japan is breathtaking, yet it's important to remember that a one-minute cinematic can't fully represent the entire game. We'll have to wait until the release to form a comprehensive opinion.
