The developers of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 have addressed community concerns regarding recent in-game events perceived as promoting "fear of missing out" (FOMO). These events offered limited-time cosmetic items, a tactic often criticized for fostering unhealthy player engagement and potentially encouraging excessive spending in live-service games. While Space Marine 2 doesn't feature loot boxes, the backlash stemmed from these community events, leading some to incorrectly label the game as a full live-service title.

In response to this feedback, Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive clarified their intentions. They acknowledged the negative reception and confirmed that all items previously available through these limited-time events will be made available to all players at a later date. The statement emphasized their commitment to avoiding a full live-service model, aiming instead to offer dedicated players early access to cosmetics. They apologized for the negative experience and promised a simplified unlocking process for future events.

To further appease the community, Focus Entertainment is providing the Mk VIII Errant Helmet (previously exclusive to the Imperial Vigil event) free of charge to all players who link their PROS accounts to the game. This event, concluding on March 3rd, originally required completing specific in-game challenges.

The upcoming 7.0 update is anticipated to alleviate some concerns, introducing new content including a weapon, Operations map, and PvE Prestige Ranks. This follows previous assurances from Focus and Saber regarding future content updates, addressing earlier frustrations over content scarcity. Space Marine 2’s success is undeniable, having achieved record-breaking sales figures, surpassing 5 million copies and becoming the fastest-selling Warhammer video game to date.
