Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed 2015 RPG, remains a fan favorite, with many yearning to revisit Yharnam's gothic streets on current-gen consoles. While no official announcement has been made, recent posts on FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram accounts featuring Bloodborne imagery have ignited a wildfire of speculation.

On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." These included Djura in Old Yharnam, the Hunter exploring Yharnam's heart, and the Charnel Lane graveyards.

While these could be simple nostalgic gestures, dedicated Bloodborne players on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) have meticulously analyzed every detail, searching for clues hinting at a remaster. The timing, especially considering a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th, has only amplified the sense of anticipation.

PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to share their favorite Bloodborne locations, prompting a flood of comments expressing a desire for a Yharnam return, with some playfully suggesting PC or modern console releases as the most iconic location.

The Hunt for a Modern Bloodborne Continues – Almost a Decade Later

Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne cultivated a fiercely loyal following, earning widespread critical acclaim and a place among gaming's greats. Yet, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.

Fans often cite the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally from 2009) as a precedent, but concerns linger about potential delays. The decade-long wait for the Demon's Souls remake has instilled a cautious optimism amongst Bloodborne fans, especially as the game's tenth anniversary approaches.

Fuel was added to the fire in a February Eurogamer interview with Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki. While not confirming anything directly, he acknowledged the advantages of remastering for modern hardware: "I think having new hardware is definitely a part of what gives these remakes value... I think purely from a user perspective, modern hardware also allows more players to appreciate all the games. And so, it ends up being a simple reason, but as a fellow player, I think that accessibility is important."

However, Miyazaki's comments offer only limited reassurance. The decision ultimately rests not with FromSoftware, but with Sony, who retain the publishing rights for Bloodborne, unlike FromSoftware's self-published Elden Ring. Miyazaki himself has stated in interviews with IGN and others that he is not authorized to discuss Bloodborne specifics due to the IP ownership situation.

The devoted Bloodborne community continues to hope for a remake. Despite its critical and commercial success, the game's reach remains limited to the PS4. Only time will reveal if the current speculation translates into a tangible remaster.
