Indus Achieves 5M Downloads, Ends Manila Playtest

May 20,25

Just two months after its launch, the made-in-India battle royale shooter, Indus, has impressively garnered over five million downloads on Android and more than 100,000 on iOS. This milestone follows a series of successes, including winning the Google Play's Best Made in India Game 2024 award and conducting a successful international playtest in Manila at the YGG Play Summit.

Indus is not just a game; it's a burgeoning symbol of Indian gaming prowess, aiming to outshine competitors like FAU-G: Domination. The developer, SuperGaming, is pushing the boundaries further by venturing into the esports arena with the launch of their Clutch India Movement. This initiative kicked off with the Indus International Tournament in October 2024, which is set to wrap up in February 2025, boasting a hefty prize pool of INR 2.5 crores (approximately $31k).

While the 5 million downloads are a notable achievement, they fall short of the 10 million pre-registrations initially recorded, highlighting that pre-registration numbers often don't fully translate into downloads. The relatively modest 100,000 downloads on iOS indicate that Indus has yet to fully penetrate this segment of the Indian gaming market. Nonetheless, SuperGaming's swift move to international playtests and the organization of esports tournaments reflects their ambitious vision for the future of Indus.
