LEGO Launches In-House Gaming Projects

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has shared exciting plans for the future, highlighting the iconic toy manufacturer's ambition to broaden its footprint in the digital realm by venturing into video game development. This strategic move involves crafting games both independently and in collaboration with other companies.

"We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing." - Niels Christiansen

This expansion into digital spaces does not signal the end of LEGO's licensing agreements with third-party developers. Just last month, journalist Jason Schreier reported that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new LEGO game, possibly linked to one of Warner Bros.' franchises.

Currently, LEGO's most notable gaming endeavor is its ongoing partnership with Epic Games. The introduction of a LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite last year became a standout feature, drawing in legions of fans. This collaboration underscores LEGO's successful integration into the gaming world.

Over the past two decades, LEGO has become synonymous with the adventure game series developed by TT Games. Although new projects have been relatively quiet recently, there are whispers of a new LEGO Harry Potter game on the horizon, inspired by the commercial success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Further diversifying its gaming portfolio, LEGO teamed up with 2K Games to release LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game that hit the shelves last year. This venture not only showcases LEGO's versatility but also its commitment to delivering engaging gaming experiences across various genres.
