Marvel Rivals to Reduce Memory Usage and Improve Stability With Experimental Feature

NetEase is set to introduce a new experimental feature designed to improve Marvel Rivals' stability and reduce its memory consumption. In an April 30 post on X (formerly Twitter), Marvel Rivals announced the impending release of the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. This feature aims to deliver a smoother experience for players, particularly those with lower RAM configurations or concerns about FPS performance.

Alongside the announcement, Marvel Rivals published a detailed blog post outlining what players can expect from this experimental feature. According to the post, the development team recognizes player concerns about performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory usage during gameplay.

The blog states, "To address memory overload, we are launching an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. With the Season 2 update, players can activate this feature through the PC launcher." This feature is recommended for players with 16GB of RAM or less.

Once enabled, the game will implement the following improvements:

 ● The shader compilation process will only run the first time you enter the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
 ● Game memory usage is significantly reduced, minimizing severe FPS drops, visual freezes, and crashes caused by insufficient memory.

However, the developers have also noted some known issues when using this feature. For example, at the start of each match, some textures may render incorrectly for a few frames but will normalize shortly after. Other potential issues include minor stutters that typically resolve for the remainder of the match.
