Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet promises to offer players a significantly broader scope of freedom than what we've seen in the studio's earlier works. Inspired by the likes of Elden Ring, the developers are keen on introducing open-world exploration mechanics, setting the stage for a thrilling adventure.

According to journalist Ben Hanson, the game is set on a vast single planet where players will delve into the secrets of a long-lost civilization and explore a new religion, which forms the crux of the narrative. While it's not yet clear how closely the game will align with traditional open-world concepts, it's clear that the developers are steering away from the linear paths that defined their past projects.

In a departure from previous titles, The Heretic Prophet will have players navigating the game world solo, without companions or allies. Neil Druckmann emphasizes that the studio's goal is to evoke a sense of isolation within an uncharted universe while deeply exploring themes of faith and religion. The story unfolds on the planet Sempiria, isolated from the rest of the galaxy for over 600 years, where bounty hunter Jordan Moon arrives to fulfill her contract.

Druckmann also shares that the game's development drew inspiration from titles like Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island, suggesting a narrative style where players must piece together the story from scattered fragments, moving away from conventional hints and guidance.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was unveiled at TGA 2024, though it still awaits a confirmed release date. As anticipation builds, fans are eager to see how this ambitious project will unfold.
